Bartosz Ditkowski from Leuven receives the AEPC junior member research grant 2018 of € 30.000,-. Bartosz is a junior member of the AEPC working as post-doc in Leuven under supervision of Ruth Heying. The project is entitled “Do valvular endothelial cell phenotype and bloodcomponents affect the onset of infective endocarditis in RVOT grafts?” The research question is whether the endocardial cells that re-populate RVOT grafts (bovine jugular vein, homografts) are more prone to the onset of infectious endocarditis by facilitating bacterial and platelet adhesion. The project is in collaboration with prof. Sigler from Göttingen. We congratulate Bartosz and his supervisors with the grant and we look forward to the results of this very interesting project which will be presented at a future AEPC meeting.
